Dental implants provide a natural-looking replacement for adult teeth while restoring full jaw functionality for speaking, chewing, and eating. Most implants consist of a screw embedded into the bone and a post to which the prosthetic tooth is attached.

Biomet 3i implants are unique because the microsurface of the cone-shaped screw contains an innovative bone-bonding component. This allows placement in areas with low bone density, avoiding the discomfort of poorly fitting dentures, and accelerates recovery time after placement.

Why Choose 3i Dental Implants?

3i dental implants have an exceptional success rate, with almost 98% of implants fitted successfully and lasting a lifetime. Unlike other implants where calcium phosphate is sprayed on the screw surface, 3i screws contain calcium phosphate within the screw itself, reducing the risk of delamination. The cone-shaped design ensures precise placement and a comfortable, durable final prosthesis.

How 3i Dental Implants Are Placed

The 3i implant procedure typically involves two short visits. The first visit usually lasts about an hour, and the second around 30 minutes. Procedures are performed under local anesthetic unless other sedation is requested.

Stage 1: Implant Placement

  1. An incision is made in the gum tissue to expose the jawbone.
  2. A tiny hole is drilled into the bone to position the implant.
  3. The implant is screwed or tapped into place.
  4. A temporary stop-cap is placed, and the surgical site is sutured.
  5. Approximately 10 days later, sutures are removed and healing is assessed.

Healing is typically sufficient for the second stage to occur 10–12 weeks after the first visit.

Stage 2: Abutment Placement and Prosthesis

  1. Local anesthetic is administered, and a small incision exposes the implant root.
  2. The temporary stop-cap is removed, and the abutment is attached to the implant.
  3. Bite impressions are taken to create the final prosthesis (usually a crown).
  4. The prosthesis is secured with a tiny screw, and adjustments are made for comfort and stability.

Once completed, 3i dental implants offer a secure, durable, and natural-looking solution for missing teeth.
