Placement Procedure

Straumann® implants usually involve three dental visits:

Visit 1: Planning

Thorough examinations, including three-dimensional X-rays, are performed to determine optimal implant placement.

Visit 2: Implant Placement

  1. Local anesthetic is administered to the site.
  2. An incision is made in the gum tissue to expose the jawbone.
  3. The Straumann® implant is inserted into the bone by screwing or tapping.
  4. A cap is placed over the implant, and the surgical site is sutured.
  5. In some methods, implants can be placed directly through the gum tissue without additional incisions.

Osseointegration occurs over 3–4 weeks, stabilizing the implant in the jawbone.

Visit 3: Restoration

The custom-created dental crown or prosthesis is permanently attached. In certain cases, the restoration can be placed immediately during the second visit.
